This is one of the insect origami developed by master folder Robert Lang.
One of Waddell's graduates who is now in secondary school folded this example! Trust me, it is VERY hard to do!!!!
I used many photos and QuickTime movies to show you how. It was made for people who know nothing about origami. My students will find it even easier as they recognize some of the triicks they have already learned.
Explore bats in art from around the world and the bats of Connecticut in a few more pages that go along with the origami.
If you like origami, be sure to check out the How To Index for more.
Another new how-to is a Flash movie I made showing how to make the samurai helmet, a fish and a turtle.
Then there is a new page contributed by a person from Israel who saw our site on the web...a shirt with attached pants...diagramed by Nadav Vaks
Play...I am making jigsaw puzzles. Go to the Jigsaw Puzzle Index page and try one. They take a moment to load so don't give up if nothing seems to be on the page for a minute!
Take a look: Artists hand paint envelopes to go with certain stamps, creating special collectors items.
Essays I've written for handouts or hall displays:
Blast from the Past links :-)
- a page of ancient links where you might find something you remember doing in art class years ago.

- Chicken Week 2002: Again my neighbors the Weimanns loaned the school their hen Millie and her newest brood of chicks! Children practiced their observation skills and used Millie as a model. It was interesting to notice things about the chickens that we had not known before. Did you know Millie blinks from the bottom up!!!!!Her bottom eye lid comes up, not her top down like us. And the color and pattern of chicken eyes are nifty.
To see pictures a 2nd grade did, click here.
To see very short movies (.mpegs) of Millie herself and the chicks use THIS LINK.
